Retirement destinations
So, I'm contemplating retiring and moving to a foreign to country so I can sit on the beach all day. I may not be able to stay retired because I will run out of money, but I think I could do it for a few years anyway. I just need to decide where to go. I need a place where I'm not going to catch AIDS by walking down the street that is cheap. I'm thinking Belize or Thailand.
One of my buddies spent a good portion of post-graduation life living abroad. Spent some seirous time in Bali. Loved it, and it was cheap. Plus, good proximity for other traveling, too. OOOOOH, and he did say there were plenty of lady boys there Leroy, which I know you're totally into.

did you pick those because of the metropolitan areas?
Just asking because I think if I was really going to do what you're talking about (and I've thought of it, seriously) I would be looking for the most stable countries with the right amount of relaxed laws and yet a good disposition towards Americans.
I'd be looking at little South Pacific islands and such or very stable South American countries. The first person that gets grabbed up in political unrest is the American who gets the wackos on CNN. Or better yet they think they can ransom your ass.
Thailand has some strict fuckin rules man. I don't know if you like a little smoke but I'd certainly check out drug possession laws and drinking and porn etc...if you do.
wait, I got it. be a part-time cabana boy at that hedonist resort. Get a little spending cash, bang the ladies who got brought there by their rich fat husbands who can't get hard anymore...

My brother went to Australia and he absolutely loved it there... He said it was just awesome to walk to like 30 different restaurants and shit. I went to the Island of Bermuda and if you have lots of $ thats the place to go but if not... it wouldn't be a bad place to go for like 5 months or something... If you do end up there... You makes some good points. Thailand was kinda appealing for the Muay Thai, but it's probably not a good idea. I'd end up getting my head chopped off or some shit. Belize is appealing because it's supposedly one of the cheaper Caribbean countries. I've also considered New Zealand.
So what are some of the S. American & Pacific Island countries you guys would recommend with these relaxed laws & American tolerance? Also, what kind of nest egg will I probably need? I think I can reasonably be out of this bitch by the time I'm 25.
I live in New Zealand, its not too bad here, pretty boring at times but i guess if your coming here to retire thats probably a good thing lol, plenty of shit to travel around and see... the LOTR set (or whats left of it at least) Rotorua (bubbling mud pools) there is a ton of thermal activity here so you get naturally heated pools etc there is plenty of skiing locations as well. but if your here to retire not sure the ole'hips will be up for that :P lots of nice beaches tho, and plenty of girls that don't take much to get their junk out and will probibly dig the accent....

I use the term "retire" a bit loosely. I'm 23 years old and I want to do this in the next 2 years so I'm not too concerned about still being able to ski.
