aw, it's cute that you believe that. we were in bed the other day and, after making me a sandwich and ironing my shirt, she told me she just feels sorry for you. it's actually really nice of her to stay...what with your genital warts and all. now go take out the trash and play with your kids.

i think its funny when people say nike never gave a shit before considering nike did a skateboard campaign back in the late 90s with bam margera before he became a popular figure in skating and before skating became as huge as it is now. nike also did savier shoes but those never took off either. nike is just like every other company, they have to aim into markets where they will make money to survive...if a company guns to be 'core' or whatever people like to call it, chances are their lively hood is limited to the amount of time that scene is considered cool.
outside of that, i was eating lunch with a few friends including chet childress and a couple people were bagging on him for riding for nike sb. he then proceeded to tell us how nike actually listens to its riders feedback on their product and how much nike spoils them with traveling expenses and salary. chet was at the time making more money with nike than he would have with any other skate company giving him a pro model shoe. from that point on, i was cool with nike being in skateboarding because they actually support and promote skateboarding rather than most companies who just try to bank off of it

depends on what shoe and where you get them. the shop i used to work for sells a nike zoom harbor for $55 but that mostly depends on what price a shop is deciding to sell the shoe at. nike also started the 6.0 collection to help make it easier for skaters to get a nike shoe without having to deal with all the shoe collectors who grab up on the nike sb line
Well the main thing is NIKE will make money and it goes to their huge corporation which supports other athletes.
Any rider owned companies DC, Etnies, Orchid, Lotek, DVS, Adio - THEY put all the money back into the sport.
If you buy NIKE your money goes to Nike and probably pays some millionaire basketball player or something.
And seriously, Nike has held 2 jams in the last year with no prize money! They are a multi billion dollar corporation. Other rider owned companies do way more than Nike does. Sure Nike sponsors athletes but do you think that anyone would ride for them if you only got shoe flow?? Fuck that!
The main issue is the taking of money from sk8/BMX and not putting it back into the sk8/BMX community.
