I had pretty low hopes for this going in...it looked to me in the previews like they took the title of the book just to get the fan-base - then completely raped the story.

I was actually pleasantly surprised - it wasn't that bad! I won't complain about seeing it again so the wifey can see it. I'd say 8/10.

I haven't actually read anything on the cast, but I'm sure as much importance as they're placing on this franchise the cast was locked into a multi-picture contract. As for Snyder, him and David Goyer, who wrote the first one, are already working on the script for the sequel. Supposedly it's been fast tracked for a release next year.
