Autotune or any pitch correction plugins

Alright I been wanting to fuck around with autotune for a while but everytime i've tried the software it does not work. I've also tried GSnap and that does not work either. I tried using it with both acid pro 7 and mixcraft, both software pick up the plugins and let me open them but do nothing to the track im using it on. Any other effect I use like for example flanger, reverb Etc work instantly when enabled but both Gsnap and autotune wont work. I noticed that GSnap is supposed to show you can equalizer with the music as it goes and its almost like its not picking up the track. Could this be a sound device issue? Any information would be appreciated.
