with all due respect, stop letting your dad tell you what to do. you're a grown man, and can make your own decisions, right or wrong. all that ivy league bullshit and being well off sounds nice, but being truly happy about and with yourself counts much mure IMO, as corny as that may sound.
as far as law school, a friend of mine is about to graduate from UDC Law in washington dc. not a great school, but it is a good school when it comes to civil rights law. he's happy, editor of the law review, succeeding, and is looking forward to his future, not because it will pay a lot (it won't), but because he is doing what he wants. did i mention we graduated from art school? he was a photog major, and now he will soon be a lawyer.
moral of the story, do what you want, succeed, make yourself happy, dad should be happy for you eventually (hopefully). all the best and good luck.
