I know a coupla us are in Florida, and probably have heard about this case...but just in case you guys didn't hear:

Scary fact: I went to elementary and middle school with Brian Hooks. He wasn't a mean kid per se, but more a troublemaker who was a jerk at times. But I could never see him doing something like this in the future. I was actually at the courthouse when the jury was deliberating, and it was a madhouse...reporters everywhere and people trying to get a seat for the trial.

It's just a sad thing,really and horrible. But I am glad they will be going to jail.

yeah, when i was at the courthouse, i was speaking with a sheriff and he was telling me how they were doped up on xanax and drugs and alcohol, and they tried to use that as defense, but you've got to have the idea to do something like this before you start with the substances, because when i use anything (alcohol, drugs) i don't bash people's heads in with bats...i might be more annoying or loud and obnoxious, but never something like this.


its a huge deal in our community since they are middleclass kids, with no major priors and because its such a heinous crime.
