In an effort to give Conan "Coco" O'Brien the same air time that the Tonight Show has had for 60 years, people were setting this image as their Facebook profile pictures, creating desktop backgrounds with it, and overall spreading it around like wildfire.

This is the most popular album of all time, and accounted for almost 2% of Imgur's total pageviews for the month of November. People have even contacted me for invitations. People were constantly creating and uploading new "Sad Keanu" images, and Imgur saw a huge increase in images uploaded during that time. A simple Google image search for Sad Keanu will bring up hundreds, if not thousands, of Photoshopped images of Keanu. Even Riley, the birthday dog (#9) was seen with him, and it's all thanks to this image.

Holy shit. I know that guy. Not personally, but back in 2001 I started a rock music news & info website with a few online buddies and Matt McInerney was one of our competitors (We were "Digital Noise Network", he was "The TRC") and we sorta feuded for a while, which was ridiculous in retrospect. We were always trying to one up each other with what we offered or who covered which band first. It was silly.

After we both sort of fizzled out he went on to become a really great web and graphic designer. Been following his stuff for a while now, and I've seen this picture a long time ago but I had no idea it was so popular. That's great for him.
