Dave Grohl, Roger Taylor, Gene Krupa, Eric Carr, Eric Singer, Anton Fig....
Just dropping some random names I feel are missing, I cant pick out a single person, cause some will always be better than others, you cant really compare them all, due to the difference in styles. No doubt Buddy Rich was one, if not the greatest jazz drummer, but could he handle himself in a metal setting? And I doubt Lars Ulrich could ever play smooth jazz, its a well known fact that when Metallica recorded "Ride The Lightning" in Copenhagen, the producer had to take time out to teach Lars to count to 4.....

Did anyone mention Karen Carpenter? I think I read somewhere she used to do drum solos at their concerts.....

Just so his name is in here too, let's not forget Stevie Wonder.
Really, go check youtube for Stevie Wonder drum solos. I'll wait. Okay, really, I'm going to bed, I have to get up in the morning and work on my drums.
Out of that list I had to say Keith Moon because he was so crazy and the way he played was not the norm. I do think that Bonham had a better powerful presence. I saw Don Caballero live and Damon Che in is crazy good kind of Keith Moonish. Also, Jon Theodore from Mars Volta is good. Any good jazz player can probably out drum any other drummer though.
