Vista sucks dirty donkey dick. That OS is a piece of crap. Too much bullshit going on. Plus it is way to intrusive. I've run Vista and XP for a while now and Vista sucks. I hate it.

Personally I like XP better, Vista seems to hog up a lot more resources. It may look prettier but I don't think it's enough to justify the money spent. If you don't want to spend the money to try it, use the Paradox OEM crack and try Vista for free.
I don't really have a preference. I like things about Vista, I like things about XP. I hate things about Vista but have found ways around them. UAC is my thing I hate the most. But, somewhere I found out how to make it less annoying. I could turn it off completely but I have a 6 yr old on my PC at times. So it's better to leave it on right now. I'll probably have to dig up how to make it less annoying sometime over the next couple of days since I am re-installing Vista right now because I am an idiot.

Worth upgrading too? Hmm. If your XP system is stable and the hardware is plenty fast enough, I honestly have to say... Pretty much nothing. It's more secure and stable, but not if you haven't had any serious problems with XP.
However, if you've bought a new machine and it comes preloaded with Vista, there's no real reason to go back to XP either.

Being an MCSE and Microsoft Certified Trainer, I'm privy to a lot of things not even tech writers are. I have never heard anything from Microsoft that Vista will force any anti-piracy stuff on users.
Not to mention, there's nothing preventing Microsoft from doing the same under XP, 2003 and even 2000. The license we've all agreed to allows for that. Politically, it won't happen for at least 10 more years.

I can't count how many times I've heard this BS. Sorry, but it is BS. Nothing in any OS is tied to overclocking.
What's happening is that XP isn't using as much of the system as Vista is, so your overclocked system isn't being stressed to the point of crashing. It's not the software, it's the hardware crashing.
Vista IS more stable, however some 3rd party drivers don't play well with the errors that occur (and are usually ignored by XP) when overclocking. Vista actually has better error checking, but that means it utilizes more CPU, RAM, Bus, etc. Higher load = higher temp and push too far = crash.
Do some system monitoring comparisons if you don't believe me.

When you do a fresh install, create two accounts. One for you (admin rights) and one for the young one (user rights). Install everything you use under your account. Put all your data in your My Docs. Then log in to the other account and you can "install as another user - your's" the software only the young one needs.
This will allow your stuff to be non-accessible to them.
Or with UAC off, you can still do two accounts, but set folder permissions on your private folders so that the other account doesn't have access.

Makes sense, I just noticed that when I did the same overclocking to two very similar systems I only crashed with Vista. The overclock is done via bios as you know, but for some reason when I load the OS the Vista pc just lags like a motha and then rolls over and dies.
Man I was a bit harsh in that post of mine. Please don't think I was intending to be mean. I'd just spent 4 hours RErouting my plug wires on my car and still have to flush the antifreeze, put the balancer and water pump on, THEN put in new AF and bleed the air out. I love my 94' ImpalaSS but no car should take 4 hours to replace the freaking wires (6 if you include plugs).
