Anytime I see an employee go to the bathroom and not wash their hands, I notify the manager. I think after reading what y'all said I need to start calling the health dept. Even if they don't get in trouble for the hand washing, they'll have to clean up their act. (pun intended.)

You know, I thought about this long and hard, and I temper my response with equal parts George Carlin reading and Microbiology classes from college. I don't see the big deal if the person just pisses. You're only touching skin. As long as you've washed your dick or twat that day, it's not anymore harmful than touching your elbow and not washing your hands. If the people are serving food to someone else, that's nasty (and against health department regulations) but if I want to piss and then touch my food afterward and I don't mind if my food tastes a little like dick (or like a little dick as the case may be) it's no one else's business. Urine is sterile anyhow. There is a big difference in my mind though if they come out of the shitter and don't wash their hands. Fecal coliforms are disgusting and cause a number of diseases or problems (see Shigellosis). All that being said, I normally wash my hands after I piss, but I don't judge people who do not, unless they are preparing/serving food.

SRD ..... the Health Dept.'s issue with not washing your hands after urinating is about micro-bacteria that grow once the sterile urine is exposed to air. A man can easily get splash back from using a urinal or from touching their genitalia. The same applies to women. That is turn "can" lead to the spread of Hepatitis, as well as other fluid based diseases, through food preparation and contact. I'm not going to address fecal matter as you have already agreed to it's dangers. I'm quite sure that if asked, Jo could expound much more on this topic. While your own urine might not be a danger to you, in the restaurant business, it is a danger to your co-workers and the patrons.
