Well, almost. I got 1 of the ring lights and a 374 error. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a copy of the 3 red light fix or something better.
Any ideas...thanks.

from what i have read, once you get the RROD you are done. send it in and get it fix. all the homemade remedies are just quick fixes if they even do that and most just create more problems.

my stupid little brother tried the towel wrap. worked for a bit, but goes back to shit as it fucks shit up.

As much as I absolutely sopping wet paper towel love hanging out at DSF, I believe you are going to need a specialist and they hang out at the xbox360forum and teamxbox and some of the others.

I bought an Elite with RROD for almost nothing locally and fixed it following a video some dude made on what to do. Didn't have a clue what I was doing. Just bought the stuff he said to buy ($20) and did what he did in the video.

None of that towel wrap foolishness. I had to open that puppy up and perform surgery.

Yeah, mine is an e74 with a secondary code of 1022...probably bad cold solder joint

When that happened to my 360, I called the Microsoft help line and they said the only thing to do is send it in and they replaced my unit. It took two weeks but I haven't had a problem in over a year. They paid shipping, too.

My problem is, my xbox is over a year old and the extended warranty only covers the 3 ring, not 1

I found this:

"you have the reflow the connections between the GPU and the ANA chip, sometimes a x-clamp fix is already enough but not always., for best results you do a reflow top and bottom of the board. this will give the best long term results! then apply a x-clamp fix! en dont screw back the little screw connecting the mobo to the case! this will prevent the board from flexing downwards and built up a constant level of stress, wich will result in rrod or e74 again, or follow whilhelm tut and sand down some spots in the metal case to make it al even. i just never screw the smal tx10's back, my own console is already working almost 1.5 year after rrod and it never returned as there has a lot of gaming been done on that console!"

Question for the Xboxers out there...And please don't get all high and mighty on me...what's the deal with this thing? Why would you buy a system with such a sensitive issue?

I was a nintendo guy for a long time (can still remember playing Punch Out for hours on the family system), switched to Playstation after the N64, and have now gone to the Wii...none of them have such a common problem as the RROD. So my question is, why did you buy it in the first place?
