the 'trophy hunters' are responsible for bringing in a lot of money for local populations. a trophy fee for a lion is upwards of 10 grand and that money goes to the people. after the animal is taken the meat is always given to local villagers. add to this the fact that they are only taking the most mature animals that are no longer adding to the population makes controlled hunting nowhere near as evil or harmful as many make it out to be. please dont get this confused with poachers that go out and kill everything that moves in order to make a buck. there are strict limits on how many animals can be taken each year and this practice is not hurting the populations but when the money from these hunts go back to help the environment it actually helps the populations.
It's rich aholes shooting animals like fish in a barrel. It's still despicable. It makes money and feeds villages is always what people say who want to justify it, but that is bull. I have worked with African wildlife officials on many occasions. The whole thing is completely corrupt. Buy supporting that industry you are supporting illegal wildlife trade.

i agree with you for the most part but what i am trying to say is that the few areas that do it correctly it is a great service to the area. for other places where the money just goes to corrupt governments that use the money to enslave and commit any number of atrocities then yes it truly is a sad thing.
