Why do you think McCain made the Palin appointment suddenly in the way he did?

If you do a search, I said I was hoping he would pick her a month or so before he did, and someone, said they too hoped so. I have known about her for about a year, and I like what she has to say, and they way she takes no bull. While I might not agree with her hard line on abortion, I do agree with her "Do the right thing, not the political thing."

So, as a republican, I was not thrilled with McCain, but I would have voted for him anyway. Now, I am excited about the possibilities of this woman running in a few years.

Not taking a position one way or the other, but when she was announced, Kay Bailey Hutchison indicated that noone really knew who she was or anything about her. The immediate Republican reaction was not exactly a good reaction, but I think she's a smart pick for McCain. She brings comfort to a party which is uncomfortable with a liberal Republican running for office. Lion is right as well. He, as well as another forum member, indicated support for Palin a while before she was announced. I also think the McCain campaign has been brilliant with the times they have made several public announcements thus far. We'll see how America (or the electoral college) feels in about 60 days.

Not following the election very closely I assumed it was to get some of the female vote which Hilary had. Also to take the attention away from Obama and the Democratic convention.
