So what measure of discernment do you suggest applying to "give them a chance". Must I read ALL of their posts and decide? Thank you son, and yes maybe my age has made me more compassionate. I am in China right now and have a really slow connection, so i do not have time to look for examples. What I am saying is if someones first post is a request, how about explaining the rules with a little tact? I remember a post where a noobs first post was a question. A completely harmless one. There was a string of fuck off noob posts after that. I mean if I was new to forums and I read all the ridicule you get for asking a question, I might be too intimidated to post. Looking in from the outside, this forum looks like a place where there are a small group of regulars who act like they do not want anyone else to contribute. I have 500 posts and this thread is the first time I actually had more than one response. I have many people to talk to in real life so I don't give a shit. I like reading some of the posts and I think many of the posters are pretty funny. I am mostly here to share music and files. All I am saying is if you want people to contribute, we should be more welcoming. Who wants to spend time in a place that no one wants you? I am sure there will still be plenty of legitimate reasons to flame people.

If someone walks into the discussion threads then whatever they say is fair game. But in the posting threads there are two ways to go about it I guess. You can ream them for every mistake or try to help them as soon as you see the error. I choose the later unless it looks like someone doing it for spamming or shilling purposes. Because oddly enough, even the most veteran posters forget to code sometimes or make other little errors. When I see that i drop them a quick PM so they can fix it. Not because I'm saving them from getting thrashed by a veteran but because it was an honest mistake. Same with a noob. If you've never been to a discussion board the terms might not be familiar. Takes about as much effort to hook him up as it does to go off on him. The noob you thrash and send crawling away might be the one kid who's got that underground copy of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler lezzin out!

I thing n2tattoos hit the nail on the head...school is just getting started and a lot of schedules are pretty hectic.

The nature of this forum is one that a ton of people will sign up, but not many will contribute. I brought a new member here a while back and I can't get him to jump in. It kind of pisses me off. If you enjoy the music/movies/porn etc, jump into some conversations and have fun.

The worst that can happen is you might get made fun of. Fucking deal with it. No one here is exempt. From noobs to vets to the in between posters like myself, everyone will say something stupid sometimes and get hammered.

Imagine if the photoshops had chased BC off. The shit is funny, but if he had been a pussy like some of the noobs have been he would have left. personally, I think the nature of this board matches pretty closely to what Jesus does with the same page. Hard hitting, fun, sarcastic, and...most importantly...not meant to actually hurt anyone.

I think coding the links so that only members can get the links is a good thing. It is what got me to join.
