Unless laws have changed, it's not illegal to 'download' movies or music. The illegality is in sharing the files. Unfortunately most of the P2P methods involve sharing the file even as you download it. This is why the MPAA/RIAA was really quick to bust companies like Hotfile and rapidshare, because it's nearly impossible to tell who uploaded the file to begin with. The piracy issue is not going to go away, it's kind of like viruses/spyware in that every time they figure out a way to bust/stop/track piracy, the pirates come up with more creative ways to prevent being caught.

Most of the piracy fucks have moved on from Hotfile to Filesonic and Fileserve anyways.
There's always going to be another site willing to pay for each download, and whichever one offers the biggest payout is the one they'll flock to. Right now I think it's Filesonic.
I remember when Rapidshare fucked their own faces with their rewards program everyone went to Hotfile because it offered payout incentives. Then people started going to the others cause they offered more.
