Default Mount Rushmore
I have a few hours of paid time off for work I need to use. I'm thinking of going to Mount Rushmore. I'm having a hard time finding other things to do. Has anyone have been there that has suggestions?

Crazy Horse monument is much more impressive than Rushmore, and it's nearby. Custer State Park is quite beautiful. The Needles Highway through the Black Hills is nice. Harney Peak is a good hike. Deadwood has the all sorts of casinoes and the largest gold mine in the western hemisphere (Black Hills Gold). Sturgis is right there.

There's quite a bit there.

I was at Rushmore 2 years ago in the middle of a cross-country drive. It was super crowded, but it was also Bike Week at Sturgis which is, as was mentioned, quite nearby. The sculptures were cool but a bit underwhelming - they looked smaller than were in my mind, but I can't say they were bad. I missed Crazy Horse, but have heard it is good.

Deadwood was fun, as a big fan of the show.

If you camp, get a spot somewhere in the Black Hills - gorgeous countryside that you'd have no idea was around unless you get off I-90 (or whatever it is) just a few miles.

I did a little research, and they said the best time of the day was very early. To watch the sunrise, less people too. so, might go then.

Was out there for bike week in 2004, Mount Rushmore as other have said is something to check off of your travel bucket list and the Crazy Horse monument still under construction is much cooler. They have not accepted any government money and they have a small museum.

Custer National Park is cool especially on a motorcycle.

The Bad Lands aren't too far away.

Devils Tower is only a few hours away and is way more impressive than Mt. Rushmore.

Deadwood and Sturgis are must sees just because your in the area.

That part of the country is just beautiful!!
