I don't know about the compatability of the drives between mac and pc.
If you search the torrents you can find the latest mac OS, so you won't need dvd's to install.

There is a lot of info that you can read and you don't need to be member or anything.

Here's one for you BJ(that's what I'm gonna call you now instead of binary_jester if that's cool)

I have an external hard drive that I would love to connect to my wireless router and use as a NAS. I'm pretty sure it isn't happening, but I suck at networking so I thought I'd ask.

Next query is I would love for someone to post a easy to follow Torrent tutorial.With best Torrent software(BitTorrent?)safest sites and easiest settings for port usage(so I know what port to keep open/closed etc.)

I don't think so. It would have to have a NIC so the other computers could find it on the network.

I have no patience with torrents. I pull my stuff through news clients, so I get DL speeds of 5-7 MBPS.

When I did use them, I used u-torrent. The site also has a config guide.

If that isn't clear enough, post back with your question.

I've seen you mention news clients before when asked about software/apps. I'll show my ignorance and ask what are they? And I'll give the u-torrent site's config guide a shot.

News groups are old school sharing, like IRC chat.

If you really want to know what they are, this is a good description. I use one based in Germany, I can download 5-7 MBPS, which means I can get I full dvd in about an hour.

On the actual issue of drive compatibility, that is really rooted around the dvd player. It's really a coin toss, assuming the plug set is similar. I had a dvd burner I managed to (after some fucking with it) get to run on a mac. It really depends if the drivers are compatible or if you can find a suitable driver to use.
