I don't think we're going to be operating much longer. Most of us are either pushing 60, past it, or damned near enough to it that it doesn't matter much.
Of late, there's been little to see except ocean. No one hits shore except to rotate out. We have eight teams deployed now, all cross-decking between ships riding just riding back and forth. We haven't lost anyone, and only had one minor wounding. We've racked up some serious head money and boat money on top of our monthly fees. Who would have thought you can turn a profit on live pirates? The shipping companies get a huge break on insurance if we're making the transit with them.
When we wind down this gig in the autumn, there's a good chance we'll fold the organization. I think everyone's at least 40. I know I'd like to kick back like Pierce. You wouldn't believe how much he's changed. He look ten years younger.
I'm going to spend the weekend in Amsterdam and come back next week. It feels strange to lie in a bed and not feel it vibrating or hear pipes and shit rattling and hatches slamming.
If you need me I'll just be circling the maternity ward, listening for screams with my glass ready in hand.

I'm lost.

Much as I hated being at sea in the Corps (especially on the little fucking helo carriers and landing craft), I do miss the ocean. I can't wait to make enough money to buy my own pirate ship and start taking down the non-anglo pirates for fucking giggles.
