The fine people over at XDA have another trophy on their wall in the form of the Barnes and Noble NOOK Color.
The team has so far shown off the tablet/e-reader running Angry Birds, launcher pro, and a couple other extras. Reportedly Angry Birds runs ?as smoothly as on the Galaxy Tab,? and video is now available below and it does look as quick as advertised.
As a reminder the NOOK Color does run on a Cortex A8 processor at 800 Mhz so it has the potential to be a pretty capable tablet if the XDA community stays behind it.
There are instructions on how to do this up at nookdevs, but I would be really hesitant to try it just yet as I haven?t seen a lot of success reported by users. I?m sure in the next 24-48 hours there will be an improved path to root and the likelihood that Barnes and Noble plugs the hole prior to that time is nonexistent.
The ability to root the NOOK Color isn?t going to change things for the average consumer, but at $249 does this become a tempting tablet offering for some of our savvy readers?
It's pretty comparable to Samsung Galaxy, spec wise

i think when it comes down to tablets its all about preference. All are cool in my opinion but I really don't want something that is just going to be a tad bit bigger than my phone.

What formats do any of the tablets take? Can I just load in a pfd manual, for example?
