I think the fact that it is 6 yrs old probably doesn't help, but specifically there may be an issue with your video card overheating either from long run times or heavy use. That would be my guess anyway.

I concur. Definitely sounds like a video card issue.

Simple step...open your case and use some compressed air and blow all the dust out. If that doesn't work, go into device manager and yank the driver and force windows to redetect your video card.

If that doesn;t work, like what was said before, it's probably going. Good indicator is when you stress it, then it starts to go south. Computer that old, I can't image a new video card being that much.

ever seen a server do that? I did today but it wasn't full screen, it was 5 or 6 little rectangles scattered on the screen...

No questions, but I do want to share. I just picked up a IOMega 1TB Network Storage Drive from Fry's for $249. It a HD that plugs into your ethernet router. It also has 2 USB ports to install network printers and/or extra drives. I can't wait to hook it up in the morning. I'm gonna set it up as a 500MB Raid 1.

I've got to get a Macbook to see it in addition to 3 PCs, so maybe I will have questions. I'm sorry, but I think Macs are a joke (as in suck).

I was given a G4 Quicksilver with a 22"Apple Cinema Display and it is in great shape,but it does not have a DVD drive.So right now I am only at OS10.1 and I want to upgrade the OS(Leopard and Tiger come on dvd's I think). So the question is,I have older dvd drives laying around the house and was wondering if I could just swap out the mac's cd drive with a dvd drive I got from an old pc( ide dvd drive)

I have heard good things & bad things about the Netgear ready NAS. Of course, the people I've heard bash it are people who are comparing it to a true NAS running Windows Storage Server. I don't really think the comparison is fair.
