![]() GNR wasn't a great band, but they had some great songs, and the musicians in the band (other than that flaming dickhole Axl Rose) were all very talented. I was very saddened when I learned that Slash didn't really exist earlier this year.

![]() They were the kick in the teeth that rock needed at the time . It felt like they came right out of the gutter . I saw them a few times before UYI 1&2 came out ---you never knew what you were going to get at a show. It was always a different set list and it felt raw and organic .

![]() Musically, it was the rhythm section that really did it for me. They were able to have a kick-ass lead guitarist playing great riffs *and* fantastic rhythm guitar that (dovetailing with the bass and drums) really propelled the songs.
