![]() Blues Traveler - Price to Pay
Her very first chance to escape that year Came when the circus had come to town She wound up in bed and quite madly in love With some rubber nose juggling clown He promised her he'd return for her come next spring And he swore that he wouldn't forget Needless to say came the following May More than her appetite was getting wet She proceeded unheeded and quite undefeated To the trailer behind the tent And her heart began to soar at his trailer door She was gonna go wherever he went Black Sabbath - War Pigs Generals gathered in their masses Just like witches at black masses Evil minds that plot destruction Sorcerers of death's construction In the fields the bodies burning As the war machine keeps turning Death and hatred to mankind Poisoning their brainwashed minds... Oh Lord yeah! Politicians hide themselves away They only started the war Why should they go out to fight? They leave that role to the poor, yeah Time will tell on their power minds Making war just for fun Treating people just like pawns in chess Wait 'till their Judgment day comes, yeah! Now in darkness, world stops turning Ashes where the bodies burning No more war pigs of the power Hand of God has struck the hour Day of Judgment, God is calling On their knees the war pigs crawling Begging mercy for their sins Satan, laughing, spreads his wings Oh Lord yeah! Dylan - All Along The Watchtower "There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief, "There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief. Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth, None of them along the line know what any of it is worth." "No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke, "There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke. But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate, So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late." All along the watchtower, princes kept the view While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too. Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl, Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl. Billy Joel - Piano Man It's nine o'clock on a Saturday the regular crowd shuffles in There's an old man sitting next to me Makin' love to his tonic and gin He say, Son can you play me a memory I'm not really sure how it goes But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete When I wore a younger man's clothes Da da da de de da da da de de da da da Sing us a song, you're the piano man sing us a song tonight Well, we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feelin' alright Now John at the bar is a friend of mine He gets me my drinks for free And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke But there's someplace that he'd rather be He says Bill, I believe this is killing me As the smile ran away from his face Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star If I could get out of this place Da da da de de da da da de de da da da Now Paul is a real estate novelist Who never had time for a wife And he's talking with Davy who's still in the navy And probably will be for life And the waitress is practicing politics As the businessmen slowly get stoned Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness But it's better than drinking alone Sing us a song, you're the piano man Sing us a song tonight. Well, we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feelin' alright. It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday, And the manager gives me a smile 'Cause he knows that it's me they've been coming to see To forget about life for awhile. And the piano sounds like a carnival And the microphone smells like a beer And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar And say "Man, what are you doin' here?" ... Grateful Dead - Truckin' Truckin' got my chips cashed in. Keep truckin', like the do-dah man Together, more or less in line, just keep truckin' on. Arrows of neon and flashing marquees out on Main Street. Chicago, New York, Detroit and it's all on the same street. Your typical city involved in a typical daydream Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings. Dallas, got a soft machine; Houston, too close to New Orleans; New York's got the ways and means; but just won't let you be, oh no. Most of the cast that you meet on the streets speak of true love, Most of the time they're sittin' and cryin' at home. One of these days they know they better get goin' Out of the door and down on the streets all alone. Truckin', like the do-dah man. Once told me "You've got to play your hand" Sometimes your cards ain't worth a dime, if you don't lay'em down, Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me; Other times I can barely see. Lately it occurres to me What a long, strange trip it's been. What in the world ever became of sweet Jane? She lost her sparkle, you know she isn't the same Livin' on reds, vitamin C, and cocaine, All a friend can say is "Ain't it a shame?" Truckin', up to Buffalo. Been thinkin', you got to mellow slow Takes time, you pick a place to go, and just keep truckin' on. Sittin' and starin' out of the hotel window. Got a tip they're gonna kick the door in again I'd like to get some sleep before I travel, But if you got a warrant, I guess you're gonna come in. Busted, down on Bourbon Street, Set up, like a bowlin' pin. Knocked down, it get's to wearin' thin. They just won't let you be, oh no. You're sick of hangin' around and you'd like to travel; Get tired of travelin' and you want to settle down. I guess they can't revoke your soul for tryin', Get out of the door and light out and look all around. Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me; Other times I can barely see. Lately it occurres to me What a long, strange trip it's been. Truckin', I'm a goin' home. Whoa whoa baby, back where I belong, Back home, sit down and patch my bones, and get back truckin' on. Hey now get back truckin' home.

![]() Counting Crows - Round Here
Step out the front door like a ghost into the fog Where no one notices the contrast of white on white And in between the moon and you, angels get a better view Of the crumbling difference between wrong and right Well, I walk in the air between the rain Through myself and back again Where? I don't know Maria says she's dying Through the door, I hear her crying Why? I don't know Round here we always stand up straight Round here something radiates Maria came from Nashville with a suitcase in her hand She said she'd like to meet a boy who looks like Elvis And she walks along the edge of where the ocean meets the land Just like she's walking on a wire in the circus She parks her car outside of my house and Takes her clothes off, says she's close to understanding Jesus And she knows she's more than just a little misunderstood She has trouble acting normal when she's nervous

![]() Old 97's - Lonely Holiday
It was a lonely holiday I was alone -- you were away In Fayetteville or in another state There's so many towns I hate When you leave me, it breaks me like a bone But it's never as bad as when you come home Thought so much about suicide Parts of me have already died CHORUS: Lonely -- baby I'm not lonely Baby I'm not -- I've got my imaginary friends Happy -- baby I'm so happy Baby I'm so -- I've got my imaginary friends And if you don't love me, would you please pretend? It was a lonely holiday I was alone -- I was afraid The bedroom walls were closing in It must be closing time again When you leave me, it breaks me like the note That you said got stuck in your throat Thought so much about suicide Parts of me have already died
