Me bad. I have. I always check out the congressperson in my district. I may not always remember their name, but I can always tell you if I like them or not. On the state level, I'm weak, but that's because in Florida, the state reps and Senators are BS. They are only in session like 3 - 4 months a yr and never get much done. It's the cabinet elect here that you have to worry about.

Granted their approval numbers in these polls are low, but have you honestly ever wondered who are the people that are polled? I would imagine if they polled every registered voter in this country these numbers would be very different. they would almost have to be because it's the voters who are re-electing these fuckers over and over again. Somewhere, someone is thinking highly enough of these people to cast their vote for them. Look at Bush, in 2004, his approval rating dropped well enough you would think he would have been beaten, yet he won. I refuse to take stock in these polls because they do not speak for the majority only a select few who were asked. The only polling that is important is the final tally on November 4.

On a side not, does it irritate anyone else when you hear people who want to bitch and moan about the government but are too lazy to get off their fat asses and vote?

It's easy to be pissed at someone else's senator/representative.
The reason congress gets away with their shit is because it is difficult to direct your hatred at one specific person when it's the whole bunch of them that are fuck ups.

True, but if you know they are fucking up, then vote them out or try to. I personally, chose this year to volunteer at my local Democratic office trying to do whatever I can to make sure McCain is not elected.

Yeah, I realize that my vote doesn't count as much as it was intended to. The power of decision lies with the Electoral College, but with my daughter being 8 and this next president could decide how the future she will live in turns out, I feel responsible to try and do what I can. Silly to think one person can change anything as big as this, but sometimes hope is all we have to go with.

Isn't that a line from Definitely, Maybe (I know I am about to catch major heat for admitting I saw that movie)?

I wouldn't be bitter about the EC. It has only gone against the it's intended purpose once...twice? Plus, anyone that says their vote doesn't count hasn't watched the last two elections.
If he would say something more substantive (and what he has said has scared the shit out of me), I might give him more credit.
