xbox-scene has a lot of tutorials and good forum if you are having trouble
xboxhacker is more of an advanced site but also has a lot of good info
jungleflasher is the tool you will use to dump your firmware, create your new hacked firmware and flash your drive with the new hacked firmware
last one is for auto xbins makes connecting to xbins alot easier, you will find a lot of the software you need there

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't use modded 360's (or Wii's) online right? I thought xBox Live does some kind of check too.

It is always advisable to play originals anytime you are online or have your ethernet cable attached. If you back up your own games with a kreon drive you are much less likely to get banned. Typically it is the people that download their games that get banned, not to say it can't happen backing up your own games. You have a much better chance of extracting the correct security sector and video partitions doing it yourself. I have one 360 that I use online and one that I use just for backups. The one I use for backups is just a cheap arcade unit.

so, about the wii... can it be hacked without soldering or any physical changes? or can it be done all on a memory stick / sd card / non-threatening type of way?

thanks for this! so much boring information to take in. im stoked that, at first glance, you dont need to physically alter the wii!! it looks as though its all sd card / usb shit....

thats part of having "a guy"... cause you can play online with a modden box + burned game.. but every once in a while, microsoft will do a random check. "the guy" usually will know the general date and let you know so you can unplug your xbox (it gets banned even if its off)

If your console is flashed correctly and you scan your downloads, the threat is very minimal that you will be caught in a ban wave. However, if you do not do your own flashing, you must keep in contact with Dude/Guy to make sure you maintain the latest flashing firmware. iXtreme and ABGX is your friend.

You have a greater risk of being banned from Live because some 10 year old reported you for telling him to kiss your ass because he just laid whoopin on ya.
