For some reason it really bugs the hell out of me, probably because I grew up with an editor mother. It especially bothers me in professional communication. Likewise when someone is trying to argue a point. My brain shuts off when I run across the typo, and they instantly lose all credibility.
Other pet peeves of mine are:
* its/it's
* irregardless
* physical year/fiscal year (some people even say 'physical year' when they clearly mean 'calendar year')
* cell text

It definitely bugs me, it's such a simple thing to catch, and is something we all learned when we were in elementary school! Obviously it bothers me more when it's coming directly to me via email or if it's from someone who should at least be professional enough to read over something once before they hit send... but yes, as a self-proclaimed grammar/spelling freak (not that I really chose to be this way), I always notice when those words are used incorrectly.

Bugs the shit outta me when it is a company doing it, or in a news article or things like that. It's really not professional. Both of our local news stations are horrible about misspelled words, fragments that make no sense etc. This is in their web content and RSS feeds. It is so bad I actually wrote one of the stations (you can bet I proofread the hell out of that message) and said that if I could spot this stuff with only having a high school diploma, why in the world can't their college educated people spot it? I think I actually asked if they had a proofreader on staff. Or do they just not care? Needless to say, it got worse not better. I finally gave up my game of "save the mistakes" because I was saving damn near every post.
I notice it and it is something that bugs me but I try to keep my mouth shut about when it is other people doing non-professional things like posts. Although I do like to bust BC's chops! And I expect mine busted in return when I do something wrong. It really annoys me when I see things I've done that are misspelled or misused or typos or things like that.
If you need me I'll just be circling the maternity ward, listening for screams with my glass ready in hand.

I very much notice it even after proofreading many times
Always get bothered by it :
Then edit and reedit up two dozen times
Always happy with Edit button
