I tend to really support/back guys I've trained with. As for Gracie Barra/Renzo Gracie, I would recommend that anyone and everyone interested in jiu jitsu/mma should stop by his academy if you're ever in NYC. It is abnormal for anyone to speak ill of Renzo for good reason, he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. My support for ATT speaks for itself. I have the hardest time picking fights when ATT and Gracie Barra are fighting each other.

fuck no. I tried it after I saw it on TUF. Even in slow mo I couldn't figure it out. I kept doing it wrong and my buddy kept countering it easy as hell and he knows very little jiu-jitsu. He thought I was a jackass.

Until you prove that to me, I don't believe it. To the best of my knowledge, which comes from Scotty and Gumby at Onthemat, Tony D came up with the Peruvian necktie.

Fun fact - I tapped a guy in class tonight with a peruvian necktie. Honestly, he was an idiot and literally set it up for me. Then I got yelled at by the instructor for never training .

BTW, do mostly train with a gi or without? Also, what's your belt?

I train both gi and no gi. I actually prefer the gi because you get more technical. As far as my belt goes, I'm a white belt that can beat a lot of blue belts and have tapped some purples, but mainly just try to avoid getting tapped by them. I've never trained consistently for long enough to really get promoted, and when the issue of getting a new belt has come up, I've politely declined. For me, bjj is more philosophical than anything. I really just want to have technique and don't really care about getting new belts. It's such a catch 22 for me. Right now, I just want to continue to develop my guard game.
