I'm an MCSE/MCT. That's a Microsoft Engineer and Trainer. I've been teaching for 4 years now at a career center and love it. I did the consultant, contractor, employee thing for 18 years and it was always long hours, no life and constant BS. Not to mention no one was thankful when you fixed their fuck ups (which is 90% of all business computer problems).
I'm also working towards a degree as I only took a few classes after high school, so between work, family and school I need sites like this to relax.
I work for Time Warner in a call center. I actually like it. I really do nothing for most of the day. They pay well enough, considering I don't have any education to speak of. Sure, call center stuff isn't really fun, but, I can think of a whole lot worse.

TOTALLY agree with you on that! I mean, I get paid to buy and test out all kinds of cool stuff with taxpayers money so you'd think it would be a fun job right?!?! My kid is less of a whining bitch ass baby than some of my co-workers! I always joke with my IT friend that the day one of us goes apeshit and thinks of coming in with a gun to shoot everyone that we call the other and tell them to call in sick. Haha!
usually, i love my job. i'm in construction. masonry, concrete, water-proofing, that kind of thing. i'm outdoors most of the time, work 40 generally, keeps me in shape-even at 38. it sounds menial, but i make a pretty good living. there's always going to be something happening at work to piss you off, but i try to keep my eye on the big picture.
One of the greatest things I've found about getting older is that my capacity for working a job that I hate is exactly 0. It is great motivation to get off my ass and ensure that I am doing something I enjoy and to immediately identify those situations that just don't suit me.
