They could sit back with their computer and listen in to all the unsecured traffic flying through the air and get information. Or if they have a router that is open to 3rd party firmware, they could write their own firmware to log all the traffic.

@Striker - you can use a packet sniffer program for that. Correct?? I have 3 CD's worth of wireless cracking software, and quite a few sniffers.

No "Dontsnatch" I did not say PACKAGE sniffer.

Yeah DD-WRT doesn't support my router, I am sure I could get it to work but bricking it is not something I feel like dealing with trying to fix right now.

Back when I fucked with DD-WRT a lot, I bricked my parents Linksys WRT54G during a normal flash.

The only way I could recover it without building a JTAG cable, was to use a jewelers screwdriver and short out two pins on the proc. Doing so put the router into a mode where it would wait for new firmware, so then I just had to TFTP the file over and it was fixed.
