So, as far as the brown recluse goes, at the point of that picture (where the guy's hand was split the fuck open), what can you do? Is that damage irreparable? Do they amputate? I can't imagine how you'd heal from that.
I'm no sissy, but spiders creep me out. And that snake bite thing was awesome.

That recluse bite picture was probably after a week or so. It starts out barely noticeable. His finger was probably split by the docs. They do that to relieve the pressure from swelling. I would say he probably had some extensive nerve damage so a full recovery is unlikely. He will definitely have serious scars. It all depends on the Dr and situation. Most Dr's do not know how to treat bites like that. Some might opt to amputate and some might not. I guess it depends on the situation.

BTW: If you are anywhere near NYC, and I mean the whole east coast basically and you are bit by a venomous snake or spider you need to call
Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx. The snake bite Dr there is one of the best in the country.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Also the Bronx Zoo has antivenin (plural of antivenom) for most snakes right in reptile house, so if you can't get it in your area, the BX will get it to you. I've seen so many people get bit and have local docs make the situation worse because they just don't know anything about snake bite.
Another lesson since we are on the subject. Do not say poisonous snake or spider. You have to eat poison. Frogs are poisonous, plants are poisonous. You have to put them in your mouth or on your skin. Venom has to be injected in your body. You can drink snake venom and it won't hurt you as long as you dont have any cuts in your mouth. I worked with spitting cobras a lot. They hit you in the face everytime. They are very acurate. Its weird to have something spit in your face and you don't kick its ass. But I used to get cobra venom on me all the time. It kind of freaks you out and you wash it off, but it doesn't hurt, just kind of burns a little. Just as long as you don't get it in your eye.
