Yeah you have me completely outsmarted. I guess all that is left is to admit that no country has every really done anything good in the world and face my ironic edginess (nice buzzwords by the way) for all the meaninglessness that my life now holds. I really wouldn't call the posters and lurkers of DSF 'everyone' - thats really putting this bunch of sick fucks a bit high up in the social order isn't it? Hopefully at least someone thinks I am cool, cos that was the initial point I was trying to make. Here I was thinking you wanted to talk politics. Its good to know your country does EVERYTHING and noone does anything worthwhile.

All I want you to admit is that you got a bit carried away with yourself, which everyone does at some point, and that every country has some degree of contribution to the world. Peace and love for everyone, yes? As an added bonus I will admit the USA does do more, but probably because it has considerably more to give, and potentially because they have a lot of guilt over the bad shit caused by general greed and consumer culture which is most of the reason its number 1 in the first place.

Personally I would rather the USA stays number 1, listening to someone like you have a little heart attack on the internet sure as fuck beats being overrun by communist's with a chip on their shoulder or the 'wrong' kind of extremist nuts.

I'm not sure you can make a good argument basing donations on GDP. Those nations higher on the list have a gdp factors less than the US and Japan's. In whole numbers, America is by far the most generous in the world when it comes to global causes.

No, it clearly says Japan is. Most of America's aid goes to Israel and what is given to other countries is usually "tied aid".

Four and a half paragraphs to tell us (not "everyone", because today is International Literal Day) that you don't care. Apparently getting carried away with oneself is catching.

No one said America does "everything" and everyone else does "nothing". Well, except you.

I was never talking politics. Sure, I have an agenda, and one side of the aisle represents that agenda better than the other, but that was never really the topic. The topic was patriotism and masturbation, according to you. It wasn't even a topic I started. It was about people (not "everyone") bitching that the States hadn't done enough quick enough in this current humanitarian crisis. I commented on what I've seen in my 44 years. I stand by what I've seen. Disagree if you want. That's the point of open discussion...unless you feel it needs to go to the Thunderdome because it makes you a little uncomfortable. But of course it doesn't, because you don't care. I know because you keep telling us (not "everyone").

That's the bigger problem, no? At this point, do we know what the truth really is? Some can claim to, but at the end of the day it's all rhetoric. Just saying information is a fact doesn't make it so. No matter how many times you say it.

I think we can all easily agree that pollution sucks and trees rule. But I'm certainly not going to give up my car, my fridge and my dvr to save a tree.

It kind of worries me that you are 44 and you have got yourself into this level of discussion. Thanks for spending your whole post telling me what I just said in as condescending a tone possible, it was very educational.

I am smoking Mint with a little bit of milk in the base for the smoke, usually I add Rose but the Al Fakher brand is very hard to get hold of here because of some sort of new legislation, I think its an extra tax that makes it impossible to sell. So I just have to try and hunt down anywhere with stock left.

This is what I don't understand; why it has to be about insults. We are stupid because we don't believe you, Al Gore and big business about global warming? No money in it? Run "Climate change profit" through Bing and see how many articles come up about billions in research grants. Al and G.E. make no money on green stuff? Please.

The same government that ran the Tuskegee syphilis study, subjected soldiers to radiation and was supposedly wrong about Saddam's WMD's? Now they are automatically right without a challenge? My whole point, and the one that never seems to get addressed is why do so many global warming advocates live their lives with massive carbon footprints. Obama, Striesand, Kerry, Gore, Clooney, Edwards, Kennedy's etc etc fly all over, live in multiple mansions and burn way more than there fair share yet tell us our clothes dryers are ruining the world. "People like Kerry was already rich before anyone really started talking about global warming..." Your quote. So that means his lifestyle is set, even though he produces more carbon than hundreds of other people? Seven mansions.

I get tired of my betters like you telling me how to live. That's why arguing quoting facts on both sides all day gets us nowhere. We both could do it from fancy sounding websites. I would rather look at the people pushing it and say, "Why don't they live like they believe it?" Al Gore buying carbon credits from himself is like me buying calorie credits from myself after eating a donut.

My rant was about humanitarian catastrophes, not general aid. You knew that of course, but it didn't suit your narrow world view. Once again I go back to the original thing I replied to that talked about people bitching the US wasn't doing enough fast enough. I stand by my ridiculous reply, and you have done nothing to disprove it other than say it had no basis in reality. It was a nice try, and you're free to keep trying, but the facts still remain that when Mommy Nature's tummy acts up and humans are suffering because of it, American citizens reach fastest and deepest into their pockets.
