Is it just me, or does that not make sense? "you would give them money to pay" then you say "the utilities were in your name"?

Anyways, you should have taken them to small claims court. Obviously, they weren't friends if the stuck you with their share. You would have walked into court, proved they lived there at the time, and walked out with a verdict in your favor.

I think I came up with a concise answer for this dilema: It depends how big of a douche you are. If you want to be a douche all your life wait until you're being taken to small claims court, if you want to be a man pay the woman for what is your responsibility.

I was just about to comment on how this mofo has yet to chime in after his original douchebaggery.

Either way, there is not no way he will not end up paying this bill, and trying to argue to technicalities (she didn't remove the account from her name quickly enough, blah blah blah) will get you no where. The bill is yours.

as a footnote, I have four other roomates in a colleged-aged house I'm not the only person, one from the fall is in ireland and unreachable and the other three want nothing to do with it and have not had any contact with the afformentioned girl. When it comes down to it I would pay--coercing the others in the house will be another story though.

There's a bunch of other sidenotes that make the story more complicated but in the end I wanted to see what the real option was.

i know where your coming from. when you get 4-5 18yr olds dealing with bills its hell. no one wants responsibility but your all in this if one guy says "fuck it" then the rest of you have to eat the bill and sue him for his share.. its a lot of trouble. basically if the 4-5 guys are REASONABLE then you shouldnt have to run it by them more than once if you can explain to them that nthing is free and the girl will get her money the easy way or the hard way.
