I'm currently on Abilify to treat my bipolar disorder and Lexapro for depression. I take Trazadone for sleep, too. I've been on meds for two years now. Can't say I take the meds on a regular basis, either. Oh well.
ive been on basiclly everything you can think of starting with ritalin when i was 5 to lithium when i was 17. i always built up a tolerance to ever med they put me on, but when i got out of high school i decided to stop tking any meds. i have depression and adhd, the dpresssion should explain why im always so down on myself and the adhd shouod explain why i post so much in the random thoughts
I am actually med free at the moment despite suffering from social anxiety and bipolar disorder. How long i will remain med free who knows. I am not against meds but being on them for so long i have decided to see if other methods can control my mental state, but if i get bad i will go back to the meds.
I would list what i have been on but the list is actually huge, the worst thing for me was lithium, great song by Nirvana but it turned me into a sleeping zombie. Plus add to that the fact its incredibly toxic and all the blood tests needed, then finding it was making you vomit frequently all day, then finding it was wrecking my intestines. I can safely say i will not be returning to that

They played around with the dosage for about six months, was not fun. I did give it chance but i felt like i lost a year off my life because of that drug. To be honest if i got real bad i would try it again but as a last resort.
Glad to hear it worked for you.

i was only on it for about a year and a half, but it was the only thing that didnt make me sick or tired or gain a ton of weight. the worst for me was risperdal <sp?> it was originally an epilepsy drug they gave to people with bipolar disorder, which i dont have, and they put me on a crazy high level especially considering i was 14 and such a little person, but one weekend i was suppoused to be doing a project for school but i couodnt stay awake and my mom got worried and took me to the hospital and they said it slowed my heart and blood pressure so much that i couldnt stay conscious, so i had to ingest liquid charcoal to absorb it. then the dr said i just had to stop taking it, even though the side effects said that if you abrubtly stopped taking it youd have seizures. and like a month later i passed out in school and had a seizure and had to back to the hospital.

Oh shit, thats awful. Glad to see your still here. Risperdal isn't that common over here and when it is used its only used for kids with bipolar and schizophrenia. So i have never used it as i wasn't diagnosed until i was 21. I was just classed as an awkward kid until then. I had a manic episode and woke up in a Police station in another country. Luckily a friend didn't mind a huge road trip across Europe to collect me, i was only allowed to come back if i agreed to go straight to hospital.

yeha i think the doctor mistook my mix of clinical depression and adhd for bipolar bc when i was younger im sure the mix was a lot more to handle, but i was diagnosed with adhd by the time i was 5 and the depression was diagnosed when i was 12 and was out on prozac. i think im way better off any medication. i think doctors are a little too quick to drug children up.
thats crazy!!did you black out and forget everything??

They are happy to drug up most people far too quickly, but children it just seems far too risky to use drugs as the first option. It worries me how many kids are being diagnosed with mental disorders.
I must have just blacked out, as i still have no idea what happened. All i had on me was a coach ticket for one way travel from London to Krakow in Poland. Quite an adventure, i joke about it now but at the time i was in shock.
