Actually, fisherman, as a jew, I find that concept an affront to my religious freedoms. I've experienced it and have also seen a teacher fired for bringing religious ideology into a public school classroom. I don't presume to tell another person what religious dogma to believe in and prefer the same courtesy. I feel it is the parents responsibility to instill religious beliefs in a child, not the schools, unless, of course, it is a sectarian facility.

Hey Mr H.
My use of that term was meant in the following way: A firm lecturing, a "no non sense" dressing down, comparable a Fire and Brimstone revival meeting.
During a "come to Jesus" verbal beat down, there is never any mention of Jesus ...or ANY religion for that matter. It's just a phrase that since it's Southern in origin it uses imagery that most people in the South can relate to.
I'm an agnostic who hasn't made the intellectual jump into atheism and would never push religious dogma of any denomination on anyone.
The future is unwritten, but I'm illustrating it now.

Second. I'm an athiest and I use that term all the time to mean it's time to give my client a dose of reality. It's the verbal equivalent to a good smack on the back of the head. (Note - this differs considerably from a Donkey Punch, which, while also a good smack on the back of the head, involves a whole different set of motives.)
