Hell, he won't know about that. The short answer is, you don't.
Just take the damned thing out, make certain to take the plastic fasteners, too. Especially if you're worried about trace evidence. Now spray down the underside of the hood with 50/50 solution of household bleach and _cold_ water. Don't forget the hidden parts will need attention, too. Get the springs and work the hood up and down as you spray. Rinse with cold water, too. Don't use hot water unless you want it to eat the finish. A power washer works really well.
Let that air dry and then use a 16oz spray bottle filled with a solution of 4 oz (1/2 cup) of tri-sodium phosphate (aka, "TSP") in warm water and use a toothbrush to clean all of the details of the hood. Be sure to spray up in the hidden parts, too.
Give it another wash and that should do it. Now you can replace the hood liner. Your best advice for that is to haunt some junk yards looking for the liner you need. You should take the fasteners from that vehicle, too. That way it doesn't look as though you've replaced the hood liner.
Let us know if you need any advice on this. It's sort of something we do. A lot.
