I understand.

I'm a big fan of fermented bean curd myself (it's an Asian thing) and there's really no way to describe it without making it sound absolutely disgusting even though it is kind of absolutely disgusting but it's perfect for those times when you want to impress your friends and make them think you're really exotic/hardcore by eating something that looks and smells like it might actually kill you.

Isn't Vegemite just vegetarian Marmite. Is Marmite vegetarian? Its fairly popular here but sort of 50/50. The slogan is "You will either love it or hate it".

To Panda, there is a thing here called "Potted Heed" - Basically its a cows head ground into paste. One of my friends eats it now and then and gets it from some butcher. I never even knew what it was and some people thought it was illegal as it was rumoured to carry an illnesses the cow had. Like mad cow disease. Anyway, I know everyone thinks of Scottish food as disgusting but its certainly not a popular dish - I think its reserved mostly for crazy old farmers and drunks.

I had fermented bean curd candies and ice cream when I spent time in japan. Honestly it tasted better before they told me what it was.

Ahahahahahaha I read that really fast and thought it said "Potted Head", and then I read the explanation and was like, "Well you guys certainly have an unfortunate sense of humor."

But I guess if I was browsing for delicious pastes at my local supermarket and saw a jar of "Potted Head" on the shelf, I wouldn't have to ask any questions about what it was.

One thing I find interesting is the stuff you like now that you hated as a kid. I like a lot of seafood now and would (and have) try anything once. I used to hate any shellfish but it doesnt bother me anymore. Still dont like nuts though.
