the purpose of a third party is to threaten to take votes from the party with wich they most closely identify until the representative of that party agrees to take on the issues that may otherwise have been overlooked, had there not been a third party advocate for said issues, such as environmentalism, living wage, and shit like that. there is no reason for ron paul to be involved in a debate. ron paul, nader, ross perot, all of them are basically glorified lobyists who use the highly publicized presidential election as their forum for these important causes. I don't think any of them are well rounded enough to be president, and for the most part, i think they know it, with the exception of people like nader who sometimes get dillusions of grandure.
