Yeah man I dunno know what to tell you. I don't know any ways to recover it off hand and I'm pretty sure the only way I've ever heard of you needed a working cd drive.
You shouldn't need it unless you try to do something that requires administrative privileges.
I kill grownups for fun but for a lollipop, I'm gonna carve him up real nice

Which admin password are you talking about? BIOS or Windows. There are some work arounds and ways to crack both and/or reset them but why do you want it?
Chances are it is more effort than you want to mess with, especially without a working CD. Do you have another computer that you can use to load data onto a USB?

Thanks. That's what I needed to know.

Windows password (To be honest, I have no idea what BIOS is). I really just wanted to know if I needed it (which Striker pretty much answered).
Yes, my desktop works fine and the laptop's usb ports work fine too.
I'm guessing you have an account which lets you log in. If so, it may be that this account is in the Administrators group. If so... 1. You don't need THE administrator password. 2. You can change THE administrator password.
Now, you might ask "How do I do those awesome things?"
Well, the easiest way is to just try. I'm guessing XP is installed.
If any step of the following errors on you, your account is not in the Administrator's Group. Only accounts in that group can force a change on the administrator account.
Right-Click on My Computer (either on your desktop or Start Menu). Chose MANAGE.
You're now looking at the Computer Management MMC. Find Local Users and Groups and click the PLUS sign to expand it. Click on Users. Now on the right you are looking at the list of accounts.
Right-Click on Administrator and select Set Password. Click Proceed on the warning dialog. Type the same password in both fields and click OK.
I feel like serafina....but fuck it, I'm gonna ask you smart bishes anyway.
any recommendations for +/- $500 laptop? I need one for the typical stuff....email, web browsing, quickbooks, excel/access databases, gonzo porn clips...and that's about it. No significant gaming or DVD watching or anything super intensive. I might load the cracked version of coreldraw x4 and do some graphics stuff on it....but I won't be editing anything crazy.
probably could find it cheaper online...but it's hard to argue with costco's return policy. The windows 7 promotion (free upgrade) is nice too.
Thanks for any input, even the snarky kind.

I have unistalled firefox and then reinstalled and still does it?

Honestly, ANY ~$500 laptop will be about the same on all counts. I like Costco too. Another place you might want to check is QVC. They have some good "Easy Pay" deals. That way you don't shell out all the money at once, but over 3-5 months.
Understand, NO $5-700 laptop is going to be a gaming or multimedia powerhouse. You'll be able to play movies and stuff, just not at 1080p.

Here is a program to help you. It is a Linux boot disk that you use to boot up your laptop and change the administrator password without needing to know the current password. In the rar file is a image file to make a bootable CD and instructions. I have used this literally hundreds of times successfully. One caveat though. If your user ID has encrypted their files, you will not have access to them unless you know the previous password.
If all else fails, just get a copy of an OS and re-install.
Good luck.
