I prefer the kindle and I think it is a few bucks cheaper. One of my bartenders just got a nook and she loves it, but she plays games and surfs the interwebs on it. SRD has one that he tricked out as well. But for me, if I want a tablet, I'll buy a tablet.
I've been reading on a kindle for a few years now and really dig it. I got one for my lady for Christmas and she digs it too. No matter what you get download Calibre software and there are plenty of places to score books and calibre will make sure that you can read it.

yeah, what chef said. It doesn't matter what format it uses because Calibre will convert the format. I have to do it all the time for my friends Nook. It even converts pdf's.
