I read a few years back about a japanese lady who was very young and had gotten pregnant, she had an abortion because of several reasons. But twenty years later, she was unable to conceive due to an illness, and finds herself every day grieving for the child she aborted, though I'm sure there are several other stories where women had their babies and after thus, there lives went to hell.
Interestingly enough, one of the spiritual directors in the faith I'm trying to follow asked me if I was against abortion. Naturally I said of course, that is murder--- I hate it, but then he did something rather amazing:
He said: "What if your wife is dying due to the child she carried, and the Doctor advised an abortion to save her life, though if taken to term, the baby would live, but she wouldn't."
That stopped me cold, and I wasn't so sure anymore, though the obvious answer would be for me to say that 'God's will would be done regardless', but he noticed my hesitation, and said that a follower of Christ is interested in God's will and not their wants or desires.
Since then, I've been thinking more and brain farting less.
