he is a run first qb, much like Vince Young who is doing spectacular in the NFL. Yet TB has a better feel for the game, a newer McNabb type or Steve McNair.

he's definitely not a bad passer...watch the natl chomp and you'll see, randal.

he's also not a pure passer like bradford and harrell, yeah.

but tebow can definitely throw the ball, and if u caught the sec champ, he was ridiculously accurate in the 4th q. at times, i wasnt even sure how the receiver even caught the ball, they were such narrow gaps he was hitting.

tebow will probably wait one more yr and finish his college career maybe as an sec champ, but i dont know if we can get to the natl champ 2 yrs in a row.

either way, he will be drafted as a qb, i think, and if he doesnt perform well, they'll probly try to convert him.

although the way i see it, he doesnt actually have that same desire as most players to perform in the nfl...he's got his dad's mission work and other religious charity work in mind with the money he makes in the nfl.

its crazy to have such a departure from what's considered normal nowadays in sports.

I saw this scenario on a sports blog and am curious to see everyone's thoughts. Should the NCAA mandate at least 1 non-conference game? The scenario that was brought up was to have each #1 from the major conferences thrown into a hat, and have match-ups drawn at random. Flip a coin for to assign the home team, and do the same for #2, #3, etc.

If the NCAA is unwilling or continually reluctant to move towards a playoff, this would at least match up teams that should be somewhat comparable. You're definitely going to have some uneven match-ups, my Hokies were the ACC #1 last year and had 13 starters go to NFL camps and kicked the leading rusher off the team, so most teams #1's from last year would have most likely mopped the floor with such a young team, especially early in the season, but still, I think it would be a decent way to size up the conferences a little better. Personally, I would love to start a season off with some great, tough match-ups. One of my favorite seasons at VT was '05 when we started off playing a pretty tight game with USC until Bush decided he had seen enough. That game gave us a very good idea of where we stood and what we needed to change and we ended up putting together a great year, losing a very tight game to the only undefeated other than USC in the Sugar Bowl.

Ultimately, I think some kind of playoff needs to happen, but I do love that every game matters in college football. If a playoff does go into effect, then all of a sudden, that Texas loss to Tech doesn't mean as much. I can also kind of sympathize with the argument of money and attendance. The ACC is seeing now that putting the championship game in Florida may be a mistake, because the first 4 bowl tie ins are in Florida and Atlanta. This means most fans are forced to choose between the championship game or the bowl game. Especially in this economy, making both trips is very difficult for most fans. If we go to a playoff, how many fans are going to make a trip to each playoff game and can you ensure a fair match-up if you're giving a team home field advantage every game?

"Vince Young who is doing spectacular in the NFL" ????

Are you talking about the same Vince Young that is riding the bench right now?
He has a career QB rating of 68.6, 57.1% completion percentage, and threw for 22 TDs and 32 INTs. Vince Young Sucks as as QB and should be moved to TE or RB. (or just continue to carry the clipboard)

As far as the He15man vote goes, this tidbit from a local columnist is pretty good as far as Tebow's case:

You can find 11 SEC teams ranked in total defense - Alabama (3), Tennessee (4), Florida (9), South Carolina (11), Mississippi (15), Auburn (27), Georgia (28), Vanderbilt (29), LSU (36), Kentucky (37), Mississippi State (38) - before you get to the first Big 12 team. That's Texas at 50.

While I understand their defensive rankings are highly improved by the lackluster offenses in the SEC, don't forget it wasn't only SEC teams they were shutting down. UF held UM to 3, FSU to 15. Kentucky held Louisville to 2. S. Carolina shut out NC St, UGA gave up 10 to ASU, etc etc
