Randolph County teacher arrested for indecent liberties with student

Britney Marie Vernon, Randolph County, N.C teacher at Randleman High School booked with six felony charges, including indecent liberties and for having sex with a student.

A North Carolina high school teacher was arrested Wednesday for allegedly having sex with a student, police said.

Britney Marie Vernon, 39, was charged with three counts of felony indecent liberties with a student and three counts of felony sex acts with a student, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

The sexual assault allegations against the Randleman High School teacher were first reported on July 1 according to a Randolph County release.

Abuse of trust, authority and power

Police did not share the details or disclose whether more than one student was allegedly targeted by Vernon, with the magistrate finding probable cause to issue the warrant, deputies said.

The sheriff also did not clarify whether the alleged victim was Vernon’s student along with the age of alleged victim.

The age of consent in North Carolina is 16.

Vernon is a career and technical education teacher within the high school’s health services department, according to its webpage.

She began her teaching career at Randleman High on August 21, 2023, but had been a part of the Randolph County School System since August 2018, a spokesperson told WFMY 2 News.

Vernon has since been suspended without pay.

She is being held on a $75,000 unsecured bond and is due back in court on Aug. 12.

Not immediately clear is what led to the educator abusing her position of trust, authority and power and targeting her student victim.

Randleman is a city with a population of 4,600 and is 20 miles south of Greensboro.

A female high school teacher in Georgia has been accused of having illicit relations with a student after having sex with her victim.

Chasity Cheyenne Knight, 25, of Uvalda, was arrested on August 27.

Law enforcement reached out to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to assist with a possible case of sexual abuse by a teacher with students at Toombs County School District on August 19.




Recent resignation

Their investigation revealed Knight had been allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student in January while she was still a teacher.

The age and gender of the victim has not been released.

Knight following her arrest was charged with one count of Improper Sexual Contact by Employee, Agent or Foster Parent, WTOC reported.

The school district certified the resignation of Knight on April 11 from Toombs County High School, according to their meeting agenda.

Knight is licensed to teach agricultural education in Georgia.

Assistant Superintendent Tabatha Nobles told the dailymail: ‘The Toombs County School System has recently been notified by law enforcement of an investigation into an allegation that we had no prior knowledge of relating to a former employee being involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student.

‘The Toombs County School System will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement throughout this investigation.’




‘I am proud to be a teacher’

In Georgia, the punishment for Knight’s charges can vary depending on the severity – but for first degree offenses, those found guilty can face one and up to 25 years imprisonment, along with a fine up to $100,000.

A previous post on social media showed Knight who appeared to have been recently married, stating, ‘I am proud to be a teacher.’

Not immediately clear is what led to the female educator abusing her position of trust, authority and power and subjugating her teen victim.

High school councelor feared to have more victims after sex with 16 year old student

Julie Tichon Los Angeles teacher at Yula High School charged with having unlawful sex with 16 year old male student as LAPD now fear potential other victims.

A West Los Angeles high school counsellor has been arrested for allegedly having ongoing sex with a 16 year old male student earlier at an Orthodox Jewish high school this year with the LAPD now fearing there might potentially be other victims.

Julie Tichon, 37, was arrested in August after she was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy from February to March of this year. She was a former guidance counselor at Yula High School, where she met the victim, according to police. Authorities said they believe the assaults happened off campus.

The educator now faces a multitude of charges, including three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and one count of oral copulation of a person under 18, NBC4 reported.

Abuse of position, trust and authority

Detectives learned of the accusations after the boy told his parents of the alleged assaults. His parents then reported the teacher to Yula High School and to law enforcement.

‘One of the biggest problems we have with juvenile cases, is often kids don’t realize they’ve been victims of crimes until years afterward,’ said LAPD Detective Supervisor Brent Hopkins. ‘Either they didn’t know it was wrong or once they do, they feel some troubles about coming forward.’

Tichon, who worked at the school for four years, is no longer working there according to officials.

According to her bio, Tichon’s job at YULA was ‘working with students who need short or long-term academic support.’

‘The suspect used her position of responsibility to gain these victims’ trust, then began inappropriate sexual relationships with them,’ LAPD Detective Russ Hess said in a statement to Forward. ‘Rather than advising them, she was abusing them.’

If convicted, she could face five years in prison. She’s due back in court on Nov. 1.

A Texas art teacher in Garden Ridge has been accused of having sex with a minor student after police found the woman and her victim ‘physically engaging’ when they were called to an under-construction home following complaints of a ‘suspicious person,’ at the premises.

Jennifer Massey, a 51-year-old art teacher at Davenport High School, was arrested Thursday when deputies from the Comal County Sheriff’s Office came across the female educator and her teen victim.

Responding officers were checking on the house in Garden Ridge around 6 p.m. following the 911 call of ‘suspicious activity’ at the unoccupied building where they allegedly discovered Massey inside with a male juvenile according to a Facebook release.

Abuse of position of authority, power and trust

The deputies concluded that the pair were ‘engaged in sexual contact’ based on their preliminary investigation, cops said.

Massey was charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony, and is being held at the Comal County Jail.

The local school district where Massey teaches condemned the alleged ‘disturbing behavior’ and placed her on leave, KENS 5 reported.

‘The district does not condone inappropriate relationships between teachers and students. Ensuring the safety and security of our students is our top priority,’ Comal ISD said in a released statement. ‘We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement during their investigation.’

The district also sent a message to parents on Friday, stating, ‘The district learned that last night Mrs. Massey was charged with having an improper relationship with a student.

‘Mrs. Massey was placed on administrative leave this morning, and she will not be returning to Davenport High School.’

Hailey Clifton-Carmack Missouri math teacher sentenced to 4 years jail after pleading guilty to having sex with teen student, with the potential to now only have to serve three months jail if she successfully completes a sex rehab program.

A former Missouri math teacher who blamed a 16 year old student for her divorce to her husband, has been sentenced to four years jail after pleading guilty to having sexual relations with her teen victim.

Hailey Clifton-Carmack, 26, was sentenced Friday to four years jail albeit with the potential for the jail sentence being suspended if she completes a rehabilitation program for sex offenders, KJLU reported.

Circuit Judge John Beger said he would check up on her progress in rehab in three months — and release the disgraced teacher on probation if she has done well.

Teen victim’s back ‘mauled’ scratched up back

The sweetheart deal was reached in September when Clifton-Carmack a divorced mother of two, pleaded guilty to felony sexual contact with a student — in the process avoiding other more serious initial charges, including statutory rape, child molestation and child endangerment.

The Laquey High School math teacher was arrested in January after a student witness reported the illicit relationship to a school resource officer. Presented as evidence was pictures of the victim’s ‘mauled’ scratched-up back, following ‘carnal’ relations the two had in the witness’s driveway.

The female educator’s arrest followed previous complaints made to school officials, including Clifton-Carmack wearing inappropriate outfits and ‘getting too close’ to students.

Court documents suggested the math teacher would dress inappropriately in ‘tight or low-cut shirts’ to show off her cleavage and ‘tight leggings that showed off her camel toe.’

Classmates would even allegedly serve as ‘lookouts’ while Clifton-Carmack and her student victim had sex during school hours, court docs added. Allegations against Clifton-Carmack first arose on December 7, 2023, after a student reported the illicit relationship to the school. Allegations that the educator initially denied.

Cops confiscated her phone, and eventually found text messages illuminating the risqué relationship, court documents said.

Shortly after the teacher left for Texas, ‘to visit friends,’ with her roommates saying they weren’t sure if Clifton-Carmack was returning. Within the month, Clifton-Carmack would be formally charged.

But there was more.

Stated Detective Sgt Bryan Gibbs in a provided report, ‘The confidential witness also stated the confidential victim had told them he was the reason her divorce was pushed through and Hailey had wanted a divorce due to her husband only wanting to ‘do butt stuff.

‘The school was able to tell me information provided by the witness so far has been consistent in what he had reported to a teacher, Superintendent and to myself when I spoke to the Superintendent after speaking to THE witness one on one in a private office at the school.

Victim’s dad tacitly encouraged the illicit sexual liaisons

‘The messages recovered from Hailey’s phone show a conversation between her and the confidential victim discussing their relationship. On 12/23/2023 the Sheriff’s Department received an anonymous tip that Hailey was leaving town to go to Texas and was going by to meet with the victim before leaving town to go to Texas for the holidays.

‘I met with witness #2 in a recorded interview room. This following is a synopsis of the interview and the full interview will be included in the case file. Confidential witness #2 advised me she had been over to the victim’s residence and had spoken with his father.

‘According to witness #2 the victim’s father knew of the sexual relationship between Hailey and the victim as both had told him of their sexual relationship.

‘When witness #2 advised the father they were going to come forward with the information he responded by telling her ‘they are going to do it behind my back so I may as well let it happen’. He also advised witness #2 that he would lie for his son if he had to.’

The father has since been arrested and now faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child after failing to report the teacher sexually preying on the teen boy.

Santa Ana choir teacher has sex relationship with teen for 6 months

A Southern California teacher has admitted to having a six month long illicit ‘sexual relationship’ with a 17-year-old student she met at a school she taught at according to authorities.

Yessenia Navarro Garcia, 37, a choir teacher at Santa Ana High School was arrested over the weekend after admitting to the sexual acts the boy had reported on, police said.

Upon speaking with the victim, a 17-year-old senior, officers learned that he had ‘been having sexual relations with his choir teacher for approximately six months.’

Additional victims feared

Garcia, of Orange County, a teacher at the school for about five years, was arrested the following day after the student victim texted the teacher 6p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, to meet him at a location in Santa Ana only to be taken into custody by waiting police.

During questioning, the female educator admitted to all the sexual acts the student had reported on according to a release from the Santa Ana Police Department.



Garcia was booked at the Santa Ana Jail on several sexual assault-related charges. Her bail was set at $100,000.

Authorities believe there may be additional victims. Anyone who witnesses the alleged crimes or has any further information is asked to call 714-245-8370. Anonymous calls can be made to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.

NM teacher has sex with student one month after starting new job

Michaela Ford, Estancia New Mexico high school teacher arrested having sex with student less than one month after starting new substitute teaching job with school district.

A New Mexico school teacher is facing sex crimes for allegedly having sex with a student she met just one month after starting her tenure with the school.

[/b]Michaela Ford[/b], a 30-year-old ‘married’ substitute teacher at Estancia High School, was arrested Friday on seven charges, including criminal sexual penetration and sexual contact with a minor, KOAT reported.

Notice of the ‘inappropriate’ behaviour came after the female educator was allegedly observed by a witness kissing an underage student near the middle and high schools on Nov. 6, according to court records.

Abuse of position of authority, trust and power

School staffers then checked surveillance cameras on campus and found footage of the alleged encounter, the court documents state.

When confronted, Ford is alleged to have asked the principal not to tell her husband, KRQE reported.

The school district said the substitute teacher had been working for the district for less than a month before the alleged incident.

She was immediately separated from students, with both the educator and the student victim questioned before a warrant for her arrest was placed a week later.

Estancia Municipal Schools released a statement on Monday stating:

‘Estancia Municipal Schools is disturbed to learn of the allegations made against a former substitute teacher in the District, who was arrested. The District is working closely in cooperation with law enforcement to ensure that a full investigation is conducted.’

Adding, ‘The safety of our students is our highest priority.’

‘The District follows all laws and policies with regards to the hiring of employees, including a comprehensive background check. The District is now concentrating our efforts and resources to assist students requiring support and guidance.’

Ford was taken into custody on Friday, Nov. 15. She is being held at the Torrance County Detention Center.

Additional details about Ford’s alleged sexual misconduct and the age of the victim were not released.

Melissa Marie Curtis, Ex Maryland teacher who sexually abused 14 year old no less than 20 times along with plying boy with drugs & alcohol to only serve one year jail after being sentenced to 30 years jail.

A former Maryland middle school teacher who sexually abused a 14-year-old student no less than on 20 occasions was on Friday sentenced to 30 years in prison. Nevertheless the former female educator will only have to serve just one year in jail, after a judge suspended most of her sentence.

Melissa Marie Curtis, 32, pleaded guilty to three counts of a third-degree sex offense on June 20, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

What if the genders were reversed?

The Montgomery County Police Department initiated an investigation in early October 2023 when the eighth-grade victim, now an adult, reported he was sexually abused by Curtis who was a teacher at Montgomery Village Middle School, according to a previous news release from the agency.

At the time of the offenses, detectives reported, the student was 14 years old and Curtis was 22.

In his ruling, Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Theresa Chernosky suspended most of Curtis’ sentence, allowing her to serve 12 months year in jail followed by five years of supervised probation, USA Today reported.

Upon her release, Curtis must register as a sex offender for 25 years, and will not be permitted to have unsupervised contact with minors other than her children, WUSA9 reported.

It remained unclear why the former female educator had most of her sentence suspended and whether such a decision would’ve been afforded had the genders been reversed.

The victim told detectives the abuse began in 2015, when he volunteered for an after-school program that Curtis was running and ‘they were often alone together’.

Charging documents show the victim told detectives Curtis sexually abused him in a classroom, in a car, at his home, and as well as Curtis’ home ‘more than 20 times’ when he was in eighth grade. The complaint goes onto say Curtis plied the boy with drugs and alcohol multiple times.

A warrant for Curtis’s arrest was obtained on Oct. 31, 2023 and Curtis turned herself in on Nov. 7, 2023, officials reported.

At the time, Curtis had been a teacher for about two years in Montgomery County and taught at Lakelands Park Middle School as well.

Following her arrest at the time, police feared that there may have been additional victims.

Curtis left Montgomery County Public Schools in 2017, Fox 5 reported.

Henderson ISD teacher arrested having inappropriate relationship with student

Kathryn Laraine Prior, Henderson ISD teacher arrested in Texas having inappropriate relationship with student, including touching up student, inappropriate messaging and sharing of images.

A Henderson, Texas female educator was arrested following allegations that she had an improper sexual relationship with her student victim, including sending the boy sexualised images, ongoing sex along with ‘rubbing’ the student’s private parts through his clothing while driving him home.

Kathryn Laraine Prior, Henderson ISD‘s vocational agriculture education teacher, was arrested and booked into the Rusk County Jail Complex on Wednesday following allegations of her having an inappropriate relationship with a student at the school where she taught.

Prior, 35, was charged with possession of child p*rnography, indecency with a child and improper relationship between an educator and student, KLTV reported.

Knowingly and willingly engaged in sexual contact with student victim

According to arrest affidavits, Henderson police who investigated the teacher on Tuesday believe Prior knowingly and willingly engaged in sexual contact with the unnamed student on Dec. 9.

During a forensic interview, conducted at the Children’s Advocacy Center, the student detailed an incident involving Prior in which she ‘rubbed’ the victim’s legs and then his penis, outside of his clothes, while she was driving him home, the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported.

The un-identified male victim said emails were also exchanged in which the pair would discuss breasts, being aroused, and day-to-day activities. The communication between the two occurred outside school hours and were not related to school activities, according to the affidavit.

Henderson ISD teacher placed on leave before resigning

The arrest affidavit also cited the victim’s mother searching her son’s Instagram account whereupon she came across a sexually explicit message thread between the pair.

‘HISD immediately placed the teacher on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of this matter,’ HISD officials stated in a press release. The district stated that they are fully cooperating with local law enforcement and remains committed to the safety and security of our students.

The district in a follow up said Prior submitted her resignation on Wednesday.

Prior appeared in court on Thursday morning. She was being held on a $150,000 bond.
