Actually, in his defense (don't get used to it n00b), there is a way to be stuck in sign-up purgatory.

If you sign-up your account has to be approved by me which may take some time... you CAN, however, PM me and ask what's taking so long or whatever.

BUT if you sign-up and you miss the email validation (maybe it goes into a spam folder) then you are stuck. You don't get moved into the "New User Moderation Queue" and so i don't even know you're there. To make it worse, if you are stuck there you can't PM anyone to let them know because those users don't have the use of PM's yet.

The only way out is if a n00b is smart enough to look in my profile and see my email address, then email me. That's what happened with him.

Another things is I have had a lot of new things installed here at DSF. Some things are obvious (credits, arcade, sub-forum listings on the main page, etc) but there are a lot of things that are behind the scenes that you won't notice. Most of them are things to combat SPAM, detect proxies, multiple account detection, etc....

Some of the things these n00bs claim are things that the vets never had to deal with back in the early days of DSF so might not be aware of.

We now have scripts that prohibit new users from doing things like:
  • posting links or images before he/she has 5 posts
  • using sigs before he/she has 10 posts
    • embedding links in sigs before he/she has 50 posts
  • using the PM system before he/she has 5 posts
  • creating new threads before he/she has 10 posts

SO, some of thses n00bs are telling the truth... about the forum stuff.
All other shit is probably lies though
