Many people see their favorite artist for their 1st concert. In August of '81, Benatar was my #1. What makes the concert exceptional, at least to me, is the fact that: not only was she my favorite, but...
I was against the barrier for general admission (festival seating)
I got to shake hands w/ her warm-up artist--known then as David Johanssen, now known as Buster Poindexter
Got her to sign my ticket stub after the show--still got it.
Did this with no backstage pass and although I went w/ a buddy, he had never been to a concert either.

Judas Priest and Iron Maiden in 1981

was Iron Maiden's "Killers" tour.....last tour with Paul Di'Anno, and 1st with Adrian Smith. and Priest was touring "British Steel".

Well, technically Donny & Marie Osmond (and the rest of the cult clan) @ the Circle Star Theater in ~1980
but Mom & Dad righted their wrong with a Dead show a couple of weeks later.
First solo/with friends & of my choosing was Day on The Green 1983 - Journey Triumph, Night Ranger, Bryan Adams.
I then went on to see at least one DOTG every year they had them, only missed a couple of the new wave/pop themed.

Circle Star Theater?!? Holy shit! My brother and some buddies tended bar there for a while...my folks saw Sinatra(!) there...I used to watch 4th of July fireworks in parking lot every year...

Second show I ever say was Night Ranger in the parking lot at Great America...going to see 'em again when they open for Journey in October...

Yeah, I lived on the other side of the bay, but remember driving by that place a million times as it just crumbled.
I'm also old enough to remember when Marine World was over there also.

Night Ranger still hold a nostalgic place in my ears. They played along with Y&T at my high school, and I eventually got to know Brad Gillis when I lived in Alameda. Great, fun scene.

My first job was flipping burgers at Marine World corporate outings. Not so good times. I have a friend who's backyard abutted Joey Alves'; he being the guitarist who never got to solo in Y&T because Meniketti took 'em all. When you are the rhythm guitarist in Y&T, you are the RHYTHM GUITARIST in Y&T...see Young, Malcolm. "Rescue Me"...great song.

Kiss Unmasked Tour 1980. They are playing here tonight and it's the first tour of theirs i have missed since then, and yes i still have my Kiss Army card here somewhere.

My first concert was Billy Squire. Last week I took my 8 year old son to his first concert - KISS. He'll thank me someday when he doesn't have to say his first concert was the Jonas Bros or some crap like that.
