QEMM was the shit. Games like F-117 Stealth (box and manual weighed 50lbs), Need for Speed, and Quest for Glory always needed what seemed like 639k of base memory. I'd spend forever manipulating the autoexec.bat and config.sys trying to squeeze that extra couple k. Files=40 my ass. Fuck you Files and your 40...... sorry... flashbacks...

the siege tanks? they were money, but you definitely needed some protection on them, there short range capabilities were non-existent. Favorite race anybody?

I never played it on PC at first, cause my uncle and cousins all had those Macs with the colorful backs. there were six computers like that, all linked up in the basement, and we would stay up for days (literally: days without sleeping: Friday and Saturday and till about 4 pm sunday, at that time, we all crashed.) playing starcraft and eating chili and listening to celtic rock.
But it was awesome.
in the winter, my aunt stole the disks from us and hid them. WAY in the woods somewhere. We were outside freezing our asses off looking for it. (this was in alaska, too)
Eventually, we got distracted and began playing outside again.
THEN when i moved back to texas, i bought the discs again, +Brood War, but got frustrated with all the hotkey changes on my PC.
out of context, my game that got me bad was the first final fantasy for nintendo. it was hell. i wanted to do nothing but call out of school to play it, and it was frustrating but never lost it's re-playability when the battery in it would fuck up and delete my saves. i'd just start again from the beginning. i got to the final boss in the game once, and after the fucking gas dragons and going through all the stocked heals and shit, old chaos just wasn't going down. then the battery fucked up again. i buried it with dragon warrior three in my back yard.
then i got a computer and emulators, and fucking finally beat it to remove the shadow from my past when i was in my 20's. everyone thought i was fucking crazy to be that old and playing this childhood game cause it still, after all those years, bugged me that i hadn't beaten it, lol. tenacious!
