exactly... this just seems like a filler product. they have itouches and iphones from $99 to $299, and laptops from $800 and up. now they filled the price gap with this.
why would you buy an oversized itouch or underwhelming laptop?
im sure all the apple indie fanboys will find a reason
Also, don't underestimate the importance of multitasking. It doesn't sound like much, but how many of you have two programs open at once right now? Your browser and, I don't know? Minesweeper? Photoshop? Microsoft Word? Quicken?
You can't do that on this thing. If they're trying to steal some netbook market away from other competitors, and they will, then these people will be sorely disappointed.
This thing is useless for people like businessmen, graphic/web designers, students, etc.
Ever write a paper for your college class? You obviously need to do research, open up your browser, find a page that helps, and get cracking on your paper! Oh wait, you need ot clolse the browser first. Okay, open up the word processing thing... get started... oh crap, what did the first paragraph of that article say? Close out your word processing application, open up your browser, retype in the url and/or search for the article again, find it, commit it to memory, close out the browser, reopen the word processing app, open up your document and type.
Rinse and repeat. Sound like fun to you? This thing is a sucky piece of suck.
If they had put Mac's OSX on this, it might be worthwhile, but they didn't, so it isn't. If they had come up with a iPad specific OS that mixed the functionality of OSX with the touch screen functionality of the iphone OS, then they might have something that would pique my interest.

Lol, that pic pretty much sums it up. You definitely finalised my decision Gallow, when you point out how it can't run 2 apps/programs at once. My idea was to look into it and maybe get one for showing comps to clients without the need for a laptop. Thought it might be a pretty cool presentation tool, but it really seems like a complete waste of money. I think the hype for this thing is going to turn really sour quite quickly.

I would love to say I'm gonna laugh my ass off when they release it without the iPad name (as Ipad is an active fujitsu trademark).
But, this is Apple afterall and somehow they end up getting away with shit that they sue others for and win. I swear, the US government has a stiffy for Apple.
