I've been running 8.1 Update on my main PC (gaming and DSF system really...) since 8.1 Update came out. I am also responsible for the 8.1u image at work for soon to be 5,000 tablets, desktops and laptops.

Barring the Start screen (I rarely need to use it), 8.1u is FREAKING AWESOME. I hated 8.0.

It's much faster and more stable than 7/8. It's lighter on resources and with the exception of a few older apps (mostly AV) and games, everything just runs better.

The worst mistake one can make with 8.1u is to upgrade to it. Especially if they have something like Start8 or other start menu mod installed.

Back up your data, wipe and install 8.1 then Update then everything else (including missing/out of date drivers).
