and brock is going to win an incredibly one sided decision in an incredibly boring fight to cap off an incredibly mediocre night of fights. if this was a spike card i'd be pumped but for dana to be hyping this as the biggest and best card ever is just sad

dana has said that its the biggest in the fact that they think it will break ppv buys, ufc is expecting 1.2 million buys

According to a press release from Affliction Clothing, original founder Todd Beard has resigned in the wake of the controversy involving Kim Couture and himself.

The board of directors of Affliction Inc. announced today that it received and accepted the resignation of Todd Beard as an employee of the company. Mr. Beard is one of the original founders of the clothing company based in Seal Beach, California. The resignation coincides with a public apology for comments made by Mr. Beard and directed toward Randy Couture and his wife Kim Couture regarding their business relationship.

Mr. Beard also disclosed that he will be seeking treatment for anger management and alcohol abuse.

According to Mr. Beard, “I would like to apologize for my comments that may have offended Kim and Randy Couture and Mr. Spira. I had a long-standing relationship with the Coutures and I was deeply and emotionally hurt by some of their recent business decisions. I have only the best of intentions for the success of the Affliction and Xtreme Couture clothing brands and understand that there are personal issues I must address.”

According to the board of directors, “We are delighted Todd has decided to address these issues and wish Randy Couture well.”

The Board of directors of Affliction Inc. also wanted to clarify that Affliction Entertainment Group LLC. (the promotion company) is not controlled by Affliction Inc. Mr. Beard to its knowledge, is nether an officer, director, or a shareholder of Affliction Entertainment Group LLC. as stated in several periodicals.

This was a vital move if Affliction wanted to continue in the MMA. Mr. Beard’s felony past would have been a crucial roadblock in any further dealings with Donald Trump due to gaming license issues.

and yet when the ufc 91 countdown show had the lowest ratings in the past couple of years he still said it would be the biggest. this card will be lucky to get 500k buys.

I'm choosing Lesnar. I don't think Randy has the takedown defense(I don't think anyone does) necessary and he won't be comfortable going for submissions off his back. Randy's best chance is using his superior boxing technique. The only problem is he is going to be at a reach disadvantage so he has to come inside. I don't really see the clinch working well for Randy either. It would be like Rashad Evan fighting a guy like Gray Maynard. Both guys are wrestling studs, but giving away 45 lbs is real hard to overcome no matter what your skill level is. The only reason the Gracie's could do it is because they brought a skill set to the table that few had ever seen before. That shit rarely happens today.

i really like the countdown show. it showed more of the older fights and not just all the talking that they normally do

100% agree randal. couture's three greatest physical attributes are his quickness, wrestling and pure physical strength which for the first time he'll be at a severe disadvantage in this fight. couture has a very good defensive sub game but his offensive game is almost completly non-existant. he had both tim sylvia's and tito ortiz's back for nearly an entire round and he wasn't able to do a thing. 10-8 first round for lesnar and 10-9 for the next 4. this isn't even going to be close

i like it too. they usually get there ppv estimates from how well the show does and yet after this one tanked dana is still calling for the biggest fight ever. but whatever, i've given up trying to understand that guy a long time ago

Countdown to UFC 91 Thursday Rating

MMAPayout.com has learned that the Thursday night edition of Countdown to UFC 91 did 499,000 viewers. This number is a slight decrease from the debut show on Monday, which did 537,000 viewers.

One does have to take into consideration the show is a repeat and also keep in mind there are many factors that contribute to a rating including - the lead-in, competition, how much Spike run promos for it, etc. All that said the number has to be looked at as disappointing.

This week has seen an unprecedented push for the UFC on ESPN and its various properties, which will be sure to generate additional buys. Balancing out the ESPN bump, though, are the disappointing Spike numbers which seem to indicate the UFC is having problems motivating their base.

One thing to keep in mind is the past performance of Brock Lesnar when it comes to PPV sales. This PPV will certainly do a big number, likely exceeding the highwater mark for the year of 650,000 achieved for UFC 81, another card featuring Brock Lesnar. Lesnar’s PPV performance on that card generated sales disproportionate to the Countdown viewership, a scenario that is sure to be repeated with UFC 91. Lesnar joins Chuck Liddell as the only UFC performer who is able to move the number disproportionate to Countdown viewership.

Where these numbers should be instructive is in measuring the ability of the UFC to break the 1 million buy barrier. UFC President Dana White has predicted 1.2 million buys, a number that seems a bit on the high side. Hitting the 1 million mark has to be considered a home run for the UFC , but based on the Countdown numbers that are coming in the UFC looks to be safe at third with a stand-up triple.

is that good or bad? i've been hearing the show failed miserably but those seem like pretty decent numbers

i think the speed and weight of brock will be a big factor. that being said, randy does well against bigger sized fighters, the last 2 fights were against larger guys (silvia and gonzaga) if he can combine the techniques he used in those fights he may have a chance to win. but it been a long time since he fought last and had maybe distractions will play a part into this training of late. but its all speculation so it all just talk til the one guy has his hand raised as the winner. i would like to see brock lose for the one main reason. the bullshit that he pulled after and during the herring fight. i dont want him to win and keep bringing in that kind of shit into the mma. a bit is ok but being over the top like that really turned me off to see
