Been having weird visual focus issues for a year or so, finally go in to the specialist (my fault, nothing to do with this open market health care we have). Turns out I'm having muscle spasms in my pupils. How fucked up is that.
What was really weird is during one of the tests (where they measure your retina, receptors and optic nerve "pit") the doctor was looking at the monitor while I'm looking at something out of Pink Floyd's The Wall or 2001: A Space Odyssey and she starts saying things like "Oooh, you're eyes are just perfect. Oh, that's just beautiful. Look at all them rods... and cones. Wow, that's really small considering." Now, my wife was sitting right there seeing what the doc was. I said "Um, what are you seeing".
Turns out my optic nerve pit is about 1mm where norm is closer to 2mm. I have a very symmetrical area of coverage for receptors. I also have taller and more receptors than as the machine said %99.9999 of people. Supposedly most people have between 7.2 and 7.5 million and it looks like I have between 8.8 and 9.2 million. She annoyed my wife by asking if I notice more differences in colors than others (I'm always telling my wife things like no, that's blue, not black). That also explains why my eyes are hypersensitive to light and I have incredible night vision.
So, I get all that cool stuff and fucked up muscles screwing my focusing. Now I'm going to be stuck using prescription eye drops every 4 hours every day for the rest of my life. I guess there has to be a balance in everything, huh.
