quick question for anyone. on friday I bought a tri tip and it said sell by Nov 1st, Want to cool it tonite I was wondering if it ol to cook, since i cut it open and it doesn't smell, but like a 1cm og the meat on the outside ring is brown the rest is red. No is it ok for me to eat or should i dump it.

thanks, if it was just me eating it I wouldn't care. But U have 2 people coming over for dinner and one has cancer and the other had a heart transplant a few years ago and don't want to risk them. But they also like their meat over well done and I like mine medium rare.

Yea, the sell by date is not a cook by date. In the US, you are usually safe for 3-4 days after the sell by. More if you froze the meat.
