Garter snakes are really cool. So many unique behaviors. They actually have what some consider a mild venom but it won't harm mammals. They only eat frogs and worms, some slugs and maybe a small fish. They do not eat mammals.

This is from a set of pics of many different species of snakes all in this same direction. I think what they do is put the snakes in a upside down box, in a cool room. Wait a few minutes until the snakes calm down and remove the box. Then hurry up and snap the pics before the snakes move. It's an old field photographers trick except we use a bucket.

I know more than most, but am nowhere near knowing it all. I'm lucky though, because I have colleagues I can call that really do know it all, if I am ever not sure of an answer.

He's not going to eat any potential rats? Damn... oh well, I let him live anyway, I have no love for the Empire... err, I mean for frogs, worms, and slugs. Don't think he's getting any fish here, the river is a mile and a half away and he'd have to cross a busy street, so I hope he doesn't try that. It's getting summery here though, so any day now I'll start seeing blacksnakes smashed to shit on the roads, especially near Lake Wylie and Moss Lake. I know you can't avoid it, but I actually saw this fucking foetus-like-proportions redneck stop his truck and back over the snake so he could run it over a second (third really) time.

Didn't say you were, just that you blow proportions. An example. Someone posts a pic of a dude with a flap of skin open on his leg. Foetus posts a pick of some dude with his leg blown the fuck off and only a flap of skin left.

Nope Mr. H My kido starts school this fall right after her baby brother is born, working on finding a good book to answer those questions for her too, but she saw a snake in the yard the other day and go soooo excited tried to pick it up and bring it in the house. So we wanna pick her up some good science and nature books to look at
